Kudos out to the original Scott (aka Jonathan Brewster) for pointing me to Dr. Bhutwala. While I don’t have many ailments, I do have a few consistent physiological flaws that need attention. Since moving here I took my time finding my last physician and I’ve worked well with him for several years now. That doctor has just moved back to his Arctic homeland of Canada (I suspect this past wicked hot summer did him in) so when I damaged myself this past weekend I needed somewhere to turn.
I’m a cynic by nature and trade and have just enough medical training to make me annoying to those who actually have degrees in medicine. So it takes a special doctor and office staff to both put up with me and to make me feel at ease. Hunting for doctors is no fun, so typically I ask local friends (and cynics) as to who they see. I cull from this list, look at specialties, schooling and give them a trial run.
Dr. Bhutwala and his office passed with plenty of points to spare. The office is in a quiet little community off of Hutcheson and the waiting area didn’t remind me of Walmart. Other than looking like the first cousin of M. Night Shyamalan, Bhutwala was deliberate, consistent, patient and caught that I knew just enough about medicine to make me both informed and a possible danger to myself. While I don’t plan on seeing much of him it was good to know that there were some good doctors out there.

Shyamalan’s cousin? You are such a rebel/non-conformist.

PS – I’m a Bill Moore Smith patient myself. I chose him because I figure that someone who goes by three names has to be pretty good.
