What an odd world we’ve made for ourselves. I remember living at most, 2 hours from our relatives – with many living closer. Thanksgiving was about getting together, sharing stories, food, football and nights filled with games and more stories. Now, Thanksgiving involves at minimum a 9 hour trip, stressing about leaving pets behind and frantically running around making sure that in your weekend jaunt you didn’t forget something.
Even with all of this stress, we are thankful. We’ve been blessed this year and can not take for granted the mercies been shown to us. We will take the time on the road to talk, something we’ve been missing as of late. We are thankful that we have a home that we can share with others. We are thankful to be part of a church and a community that while taking the gospel seriously doesn’t take themselves too seriously. We are reminded of the fragile nature of life and thankful for our health and the health of those we love.
Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye Heavenly Host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
