The wife and I have been quite sick the last few days – with the Mrs. suffering more so. Even being sick though we still have to be parents and still have commitments outside the home – seems life needs a Tivo pause button sometimes.

Even with all this temporal pain and chaos my morning ritual of reading up on the tone and voice of certain cultural topics goes on and as I type this I realize that if I could devote a healthy percentage of that time to prayer and scripture I’d be better off… Since that’s not the case yet I read another intriguing salvo in the “culture war” as they like to call it (Culture War tries to sound so noble doesn’t it? At times I believe cultural rift might be a better term).

The NY Times points out a D-Day (Darwin Day) in Philadelphia honoring the man and the birth of the Evolutionary movement. The Christian used to represent us all in the counter-point is Ken Ham – likely a nice fellow but I don’t share all his beliefs and he comes off as a straw man in the article (again, probably because I don’t share all his beliefs).

While I’d like to spend the morning reading up more on this event, Ken Ham’s background, and the sure to come counter event I can not and perhaps I should not – even on a good day. Do I continue to read up on this to satiate a curiosity or does it actually help my understanding? Again, I don’t have time to debate myself. Two ill parents need to somehow get four kids fed, dressed and out the door so they can go the doctor.
