letting Sara sleep in this morning – she’s had a rough week or so. Now we’ll see what all I forget to do as I get the kids ready for school.

finished the daily dose of the Olympics “early” and is off to bed.

finished packing the kids lunches and is transferring from dad to “worker man.”

is recovering from HOT day in the car. I think my eyeballs were sweating. Can’t wait till I can justify getting a car with A/C.

how many deaths have occured by overdosing on the ‘08 Olympic games… This is great television; NBC should be making a fortune off of this.

Our kids attend a school minutes from our house and minutes from where I work. But aside from the proximity of it, it truly is a community school. Our eldest girl and boy attend there now and we have no doubt about having our other kids attend there when the time comes.

We’re thankful for Battle Academy, the friends we’ve made there and our ‘family’ of friends who have their kids there as well.

May God continue to bless it.

Channel 3’s Jed Mescon Suspended For Remark About Brainerd BBQ
posted July 27, 2008

Channel 3’s popular morning show host Jed Mescon has been suspended for a remark he made Friday morning promoting the annual Brainerd Barbecue put on by the Brainerd Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Mescon was told he would not be on the air for the Monday morning show and was suspended without pay.

Sources said after the show, Mr. Mescon was called into the office of news director Derrall Stalvey and chided for making the brief mention about the event, which was in its 62nd year.

The host, who has long been involved in a number of civic and fund-raising events, was reportedly told to focus on the news, rather than promoting community events such as the barbecue. <more>

I’ll admit, local morning news isn’t my thing. I’ve got four kids and about a hundred clients to think about first thing in the morning so TV is pretty much last on my list of must do’s. But I have seen Jed’s morning show on a few occasions and along with morning fare news, he seems to communicate well that Chattanooga’s a friendly and community oriented town. Mentioning that a BBQ is happening doesn’t seem out of scope.

Liam, didn’t seem too long ago you were the baby in the family – but yesterday you turned five. Time does race by – an addage I’d not quite felt so true till parenthood. You’re your own man – unique in our home. You wear your heart on your sleeve and express joy as easily as sadness. Whoever could forget the “donuts, donuts” song?

It was fun shopping for your birthday this year because I knew that not only toys could bring your smile out (though playing Mario cart with you was fun too). You’ve got a giving heart and it was good to see you more excited to play with your brother and sister with your new toys than you were to open them.

I hope this year is good to you and that you continue to grow in God’s grace. Figuring out who you are and who you’re to be. Blessings and peace on you little man – glad to have you as my son.

don’t plan the plan if you can’t follow through.”

Well, plans to ride out to the Tail of the Dragon today started dissolving last night and were confirmed dead this morning. I had been looking forward to this for some time but ya know – work feeds the kids and a fun ride in the Appalachians doesn’t.

The plan is still to make the meet-up tonight on the Bridge tonight and make a few rides tomorrow.

[HA-HA-HA-HA-HA....-HA-HA-HA UPDATE]

The status was not quo and the world was a mess but now all is in order. Hulu has Dr. Horrible again.

[EVIL UPDATE]

Apple, in its never ending quest to not be cool anymore, has now completely usurped the joy that was once Dr. Horrible. It’s now in the clutches of the iTunes pay for play monster. Boo, spit, hiss. Down with Steve Jobs and his quest to dominate all computer based media. I’m sad for Mutant Enemy Productions today and for those who won’t abide Apple’s “cost-conditional” media viewing. Dr. Horrible was popular enough that they’d find the advertisers to support it on Hulu. If you’re already in the clutches of Apple, then go ahead and watch the film. Hulu had a great thing running there when they had it for free and Whedon should have held out for a free video option for users. Far more would have seen it and likely bought the soundtrack and additional schwag.

BTW, Joss should do a shot out to JoCo for the inspiration for “Brand New Day.”

I became a fan of Joss Whedon since I stumbled upon Firefly. A solid show that died before its time.

I heard that he had a new production coming out this fall – Dollhouse and went looking for some back story on the work. In that research I found Dr. Horrible - free to view for a bit via the good folks at HULU.

Thank you Joss, Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, Felicia Day and the team that made this for brightening my evening.
